Add, edit, or remove terms from the censored list

You may want to hide certain words or phrases from your feedback, for example employee names or profanities.

Note: The censored terms list is optional and may not be enabled for your organization. If it isn't available, you won't be able to access the necessary settings to follow the steps in this guide.

Add a term to the censored list

  1. Open the Rant & Rave Dashboard.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Click Censored terms.

    You'll only see this option if your organization has the censored terms list enabled.

  4. Click Add censored term.

  5. In the text box, enter the term you want to add to the censored list, then click Tic mark to save it.

  6. To retroactively apply the censored terms to the feedback you've already received, click Re-censor data.

    This could take up to several minutes depending on how much feedback needs to be altered.

Import terms into the censored list

Step 1: Create the import file

  1. Create a spreadsheet, and add your censored terms in the first column (one per row).

  2. Save the spreadsheet as a .csv file—learn how to save a spreadsheet as a .csv file.

Step 2: Import the censored terms

  1. Open the Rant & Rave Dashboard.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Click Censored terms.

    You'll see a list of your existing censored terms.

  4. Click Import CSV terms.

  5. Find the .csv file you want to import, then click Open.

    You'll see a message which lets you know how the import went.

  6. Fix any failed import items.

    Tip: Failed import terms are usually duplicate terms.

  7. To retroactively apply the censored terms to the feedback you've already received, click Re-censor data.

    This could take up to several minutes depending on how much feedback needs to be altered.

Edit a censored term

From your list of censored terms:

  1. Find the term you want to change.

  2. Click the Edit icon.

  3. Make your changes, then click Tic mark to confirm.

  4. To retroactively apply the censored terms to the feedback you've already received, click Re-censor data.

    This could take up to several minutes depending on how much feedback needs to be altered.

Remove a censored term

From your list of censored terms:

  1. Find the term you want to remove.

  2. Click Delete.

  3. Click Confirm to confirm or Undo to cancel.

  4. To retroactively apply your changes to the feedback you've already received, click Re-censor data.

    This could take up to several minutes depending on how much feedback needs to be altered.

Export the list of censored terms

From your list of censored terms, click Export terms. The list of censored terms will be downloaded as a single column in a .csv file—learn more about working with .csv files.
